About UsBranford Weavers is located in Branford, Connecticut. Our work is inspired by the past but reflects the patterns and trends of the 21st Century.
About Robert Aiudi I have been a weaver since the age of around 10. My great-grandfather from Isola del Piano, Italy was a master silk weaver and the stories of him inspired me to learn the craft. Being a curious kid, I needed a counselor for my Textile Merit Badge in Boy Scouts, so I found Laurie Frenzel, an amazing weaver from my hometown. She taught me everything she knew about weaving and spinning and I loved every minute. Then I took a year off from college and studied weaving at Wesleyan Potters in Middletown, Connecticut, There I learned several weaving techniques and studied with several well-known weavers. In Branford, where I live, I participated in the restoration of several textile-related articles in the permanent collections of the Branford Historical Society. The loom to the left is a Swedish loom from circa 1880. I live and work at the John Tyler House. |
